Guadalupe Del Carmen Castorena is a Mexican artist residing in Bentonville, Arkansas. At the age of seven, Castorena migrated illegally to the United States where she lived a double life for twelve years in fear of being deported. It was in 2013 that she gained legal residency through Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) and was exempt from deportation. Castorena became interested in photography as a young teenager and began experimenting with various media, including ceramics and performance art as an undergrad at the University of the Ozarks in Clarksville, Arkansas. It is through various mediums that she reveals narrative stories of the conceptualized self, harming an individual's physiological development.
